Also called Morton’s neuroma or Morton’s toe, this condition is an inflammation of one of the nerves in your feet between the bones that connect your foot to your third and fourth toes. The nerve is thicker than it should be and swollen, making walking painful. You may feel like you’re stepping on a marble.
A neuroma forms when a nerve becomes irritated and swells. Although it’s not always clear what causes the inflammation, it can be a result of pressure being put on your toes and the nerves between them. Some activities that can make the development of the condition more likely are:

Symptoms tend to get worse over time. At first, you may feel only minor pain that goes away after resting, but as the swelling increases, symptoms progress.
For many people, wearing orthotic devices, taking pain medications, and even turning to steroids helps to relieve the worst of the symptoms. For others, however, the best option is to turn to neuroma surgery.
There are a few different types of surgeries, including the use of extreme cold to destroy a few of the nerve cells in the area. We can also use radiofrequency ablation to heat the nerve cells and destroy them.
